Fiber Optics Certification
Tri-County Technical College's Certified Fiber Optic Technician Certificate programs are recognized by the US Department of Labor and sanctioned by the Fiber Optic Association (FOA).
A well trained Fiber Optics Technician is in DEMAND in today's job market! A fiber optics technician maintains fiber optic cable systems that carry both voice and digital transmissions. Fiber optics technicians are persons in charge of working with optical fibers and cables which are used in sending and receiving communications data. They splice and fuse fibers, install cables beneath the ground and in the different parts of building structures, so that these could be used for telecommunications and other forms of communication.
The Certified Fiber Optics Certificate programs prepare you to take the (Certified Fiber Optics Technician exam (CFOT), the Certified Fiber Optics Specialist/Splicing (CFOS/S) exam,and the Certified Fiber Optics Specialist in Testing (CFOS/T) exam and the Certified Fiber to the Home Specialist (CFOT/H).
Each exam is sanctioned by the FOA (Fiber Optics Association). The FOA is an international, non-profit organization that certifies fiber optic technicians, approves fiber optic technician training courses, and participates in the development of standards for the industry. The exam is given at the end of each class.
You can expect our fiber optic training course to be small and not too crowded. Our basic, 3-day course curriculum allows even the novice of fiber optic students the opportunity to learn to be a fiber optics technician.

CFOT (Basic) 3-day Course |
The student will find that the Basic CFOT Course from BDI DataLynk offers a real-world approach to fiber network understanding. This fiber optic training course is a recommended prerequisite to the other BDI DataLynk Courses. |

CFOS/T Specialist |
This specialist program focuses on the testing & maintenance of singlemode networks. With emphasis on the OLTS and OTDR, this course presents extreme, real world challenges to the attending student. |

CFOS/S Specialist |
This specialist program focuses on mechanical and fusion splicing of fiber optics networks. The student will be expected to build their own fiber network using a variety of mechanical and fusion splicing techniques. |

CFOS/O Specialist |
This 2-day fiber optic tech course is designed for anyone interested in becoming a specialist on Outside Plant (OSP) Fiber Optics Cabling. Program prepares the student to take the written and hands on Exams. |

CFOS/H Specialist |
This 2-day fiber optic tech course is designed for anyone involved in fiber to the home installation, testing, and maintenance. Program prepares the student to take the written and hands on Exams. |
