This course introduces students to specific PLC programs. Students will start at the field level with analog sensors and actuators and later on build up to the control level with programming and networking PLCs. The course begins with connecting different analog sensors (voltage, current, and resistance sensors, for example) to analog modules. In order to write a PLC program with analog values, course participants also need to how to use real numbers. In order to work with these and other kinds of numbers, the participants also need to get to know additional functions like comparison, memory, arithmetic, conversion, and jump functions. Additionally, maintenance and troubleshooting of bus systems are essential components of the course.
Must have previous participated in the Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) Level 1 course.
