The Nurse Aide is the primary direct caregiver in long-term care, home health, hospitals, and private duty services. The demand is great for this healthcare worker due to the aging population. This course is approved by the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) and qualifies you to take the SC Nurse Aide Competency Exam, which is required to work in a variety of healthcare facilities and organizations. This exam is nationally recognized and will permit you to work in most states throughout the USA. Classroom hours vary from clinical hours. Day classes are usually 5 days a week 8a-12p for 4.0 hours each; Afternoon and Night Theory and Lab Classes are 4 days a week for 4.0 hours each. Day class clinical is 7:30-4p for 5 days,  Afternoon class clinical is 7:30a-4p for 5 days and Night class clinical is scheduled from 4p-9p for 8 days to equal 40 hours of clinical. Lecture hours=40 hours, Lab Skills=30 hours + an additional 8 hours of Alzheimer’s & Dementia, Clinical=40 hours:  Total hours: 118 hours
